Focusrite ISA One Digital Mic Preamp/DI with On-Board Analogue-to-Digital Conversion

Focusrite ISA One Digital Mic Preamp/DI with On-Board Analogue-to-Digital Conversion Review

See more picture

Focusrite ISA One Digital Mic Preamp/DI with On-Board Analogue-to-Digital Conversion Feature

  • ISA One single channel mic-pre with digital I/O Card installed and SPDIF cable
  • Features direct input to record an instrument and microphone simultaneously
  • Ideal for recording singer songwriters, allowing you to track vocals and guitar at the same time
  • Switchable impedance includes an ISA 110 setting
  • Headphone output with a stereo cue mix input to monitor signals from your DAW
Focusrite is dedicated to bringing you the tools you need to enhance the way you work. Our products are made with pride and principle by engineers who themselves are musicians and understand the part our products play in your process. Focusrite's most affordable ISA pre-amplifier now has a digital card as standard. The ISA One Digital is now perfect for getting the legendarily transparent Focusrite sound directly into your recording system. In addition to the ISA mic-preamp, ISA One Digital also has a direct input. This means that you can record an instrument and microphone simultaneously. This makes it ideal for recording singer songwriters, allowing you to track vocals and guitar at the same time. Or, the tried and tested technique of mic-ing up an guitar/bass amp cabinet and taking a direct out at the same time. Like the original ISA One, the Digital version has Focusrite's classic transformer-based circuitry used in the legendary Forte Console. The unit also features a headphone output with a stereo cue mix input so you can monitor signals from your DAW - and comprehensive metering provides accurate visual feedback. The ADC board, which was previously an optional extra for the analogue-only ISA One, provides AES/EBU, S/PDIF and SMUX-compliant optical outputs for the unit, with the preamp and DI signals streamed separately over the two channels of the digital connection. With studio-grade A-D conversion and jitter-elimination technology, and an impressive 118dB dynamic range, this direct digital link bypasses the analogue circuitry and converters in your existing audio interface, providing a high-end signal path straight into any music-recording software, including Pro Tools, Logic, Nuendo and Sonar. At Focusrite our focus on quality is all-consuming. All of our products are easy to use, logically designed, and give years of class-leading, top-notch performance.

Focusrite TwinTrak Pro Dual Mono/Stereo Tracking Solution and True Stereo Compressor Feature

  • Two award-winning Class A discrete transistor-based Focusrite pre-amps
  • TwinTrak Pro pre-amps feature a wire-wound, inductor-induced 'Air' function, and controllable mic input impedance - recreates the open and airy qualities of more expensive transformer-based pre-amps.
  • Dual mono/stereo optical compressor featuring custom fast-acting optos, comprehensive controls and true stereo linking
  • Pro Series' Latency-free monitoring - monitor your source signals within the mix, directly at source
  • 24 bit DAC as standard and Optional ADC
  • TwinTrak Pro pre-amps feature a wire-wound, inductor-induced 'Air' function, and controllable mic input impedance
Designed principally as an affordable, high-specification dual mono/stereo tracking device, TwinTrak Pro also boasts comprehensive latency-free monitoring, unmatched digital connectivity, and all within a sturdy 2U 19-inch rack-mount chassis. Each channel features Focusrite's award-winning Platinum pre amp, embellished with the option of instant 'air' and variable input impedance for improved microphone performance and extended creativity. A mid-scoop EQ follows, and provides variable frequency and depth of cut for vocal problem solving and miked-up cabinet ambience. In pride of place is TT Pro's powerful dual mono/stereo optical compressor. This optical compressor features Focusrite's custom fast-acting optos, alongside side-chain inputs and the ability to operate as a true 'twinned' stereo pair. These circuit design innovations are complemented by a comprehensive set of focused controls. TT Pro is the first Platinum to feature a D/A converter as standard, alongside its optional analogue to digital converter. The D/A converter enables the user to feed mono or stereo digital signals into TT Pro. These signals can be fed either into the stereo latency-free monitoring section, or via line inputs (post- the pre amp stage) for further processing. The signal can then return to the digital audio workstation via Focusrite's established stereo A/D converter option. Together, these facilities make TT Pro the perfect analogue interface for any digital audio workstation, and equally the world's first 'hardware plug-in'.

Focusrite Liquid Mix Multi-channel Firewire Mix Processor

Focusrite Liquid Mix Multi-channel Firewire Mix Processor Review

See more picture

Focusrite Liquid Mix Multi-channel Firewire Mix Processor Feature

  • 32 Channels of classic EQ & Compressor plug-in system for DAWs powered by the control surface
  • 20 EQ & 40 Compression emulations available out-of-the-box with free expanding library online
  • EQ & Compression settings can be applied via hands-on control surface or within DAW application via easy-to-use plug-in GUI
  • Large format LED bar-graphs mean ergonomic display of levels and processor impact.
  • Optional DSP expansion card is available to increase the maximum channel count at higher sample rates.
Each of Liquid Mix’s 32 channels provides Compressor and EQ emulations selected from a huge pool of high-quality vintage and modern day classics. 40 Compressors and 20 EQs are available straight out of the box, with an expanding library online. Furthermore, a totally unique hybrid 7-band ‘super EQ’ can be built out of separate classic EQ sections in every one of the 32 channels. Each channel appears as a separate VST/AU/RTAS effect within the sequencer and will work within all major applications, including Pro Tools. Liquid Mix uses the same patented Dynamic Convolution process as Focusrite’s Liquid Channel. Unlike standard convolution techniques, Dynamic Convolution utilizes vast processing power to sample the effect of a classic processor on a series of audio pulses, at many different gain settings and frequencies. In Liquid Mix, all this processing is done using onboard DSP, so the processing has almost no effect on your computer’s own CPU. Liquid Mix’s DSP is housed within an elegant desktop control solution and connects to the computer via Firewire, which also provides bus-powering. The physical metering, screen, rotary controls and buttons on the hardware help to provide a tactile ergonomic solution, placing the sounds of an array of high quality vintage processors at your fingertips. You can choose to control each channel either from the desktop control unit, or from within the sequencer, using a simple GUI that functions exactly like a plug-in. An optional expansion card is available for Liquid Mix, allowing users to increase the number of available channels at higher sample rates (sold separately). The card is quick and easy to install and fits neatly into the underside of the unit. The original Liquid Channel won a plethora of awards, and has been a worldwide hit in the audio production world, from project studios to post production and broadcast facilities, not to mention the Live arena. Liquid Mix complements the original, delivering dynamic convolution for use in the mix. Since The Liquid Channel’s vast, elaborate and expensive analogue mic pre section is not required at mix down, Focusrite has been able to bring Liquid Technology to the masses at a much more accessible price.
